We spend so much of our lives looking through windows. Except in the case of artisan (i.e. stained glass windows) and tinted windows, they are expected to be clear and fully transparent--their purpose is to go unnoticed and provide little to no visual manipulation of the landscape on the other side. Yet when the rain falls and the dirt and grim accumulate on their exterior, we are reminded of their presence and we view the world outside in a completely different fashion. The build up of elements and rain on windows offer an interesting textural layer over the landscape beyond.
